A few notes:
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Dropped quite a bit due to the problematic nature of the relationship between the main characters prior to the movie. It's a casual couple of lines of dialogue that cast a shadow over the rest of the movie.
All About My Mother / Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios was the first Almodovar movie I saw and kicked off my enthusiasm for his work. Todo sobre mi madre balances melodrama and compassion and satire in a delicious stew. So they essentially switched places on the list.
Topsy-Turvy
A character study and a musical and a historical drama and a behind-the-scenes view of theater. Has a little bit of everything and what stellar performances by the two leads.
Inglorious Basterds / Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
Another example of two movies by the the same director that basically swapped places on the list. Three cringe aspects of the second movie - the Bruce Lee scene, the last set piece, and the back history of the Brad Pitt character - these are real bummers because so much of the rest of the movie is so great. Meanwhile the tension Tarantino builds in several scenes in IB just impresses me more and more over time.
The Muppet Movie
What a jewel. Amazing how well it holds up.
Die Hard
Moved way up after a couple of rewatches. A great action movie and the perfect use of both Alan Rickman and Bruce Willis in a motion picture.
Steven Soderbergh
One exercise I did over the last 18 months was do pulls and internal ranks on directors and lead actors. For Soderbergh in particular this exercise resulted in pulling several of his movies up the list quite a bit.
