I remembered listening to the "Weed Bus" track with Willie so out of curiosity I did a quick web search. Amazon has the CD available here. Even more exciting was this link to the singer's solo album - which just came out last year. Apparently not available in the US, but amazon.co.uk has it.
About ten years ago John Mueller and I were in CD Cellar in Falls Church and John saw a CD EP called "Weed Bus" by a band called the Stairs. We both thought that was a really stupid--and funny--title. I was in CD Cellar again about three years later and it was still there, unsold, so I figured I would listen to it and it was really, really, good. Really excellent retro-60s Mod R&B. So I bought it, and I've been looking for the full album ever since ("Mexican R&B").
So I was at work, bored, and I looked up The Stairs on the computer and found out that the Charlottesville store has a used copy of the CD. They've had it for three years and have marked it all the way down to $5, so with my discount (for used stuff) I'm going to get it for $2.50.
How can I not be excited about Edgar 'Jones' Jones? Just calling himself that takes
