Tonight I enjoyed some fine beers at Hattie's Hat with Matt Goldman. We did some quick math and decided we hadn't seen each other since at at least 1994 and more likely 1992. During that time he lived in New York - where he saw Mary on the subway - and took up smoking - an evil habit he reports Donna has taken up as well. And Angie lives in Mount Pleasant but commutes to Fairfax.
But enough of this old school Arlington alt rock scenester name dropping.
Interesting how we recognized each other instantly. I guess that's how friendship works. We had a nice talk, catching up in some ways, checking off the list of mutual acquaintances, and solving some of the world's problems. Another person at the table was a newly acknowledged libertarian. Quoth Matt: "I love libertarians - you get to smoke dope and say screw the poor!"
